Introduction
This
research site contains my Ph.D. dissertation on the history of science
at the University of California, Los Angeles. When funded and completed,
it will accompany the academic writing with primary research sources
and educational aids in an interactive, multimedia, non-linear format.
I
expect this research is primarily made for social empowerment for northern
New Mexicans whose lives are affected by Los Alamos, fellow scholars
in science studies and policy makers and program managers in the University
of California and Los Alamos National Laboratory employees.
This research grows
out of the Center for the Cultural Studies of Science, Technology, and
Medicine, located within the UCLA history department, and was supervised
by my dissertation committee:
Sharon
Traweek (Chair; UCLA, history of science),
Norton
Wise (UCLA, history of science),
Juan
Gomez-Quiñones (UCLA, U.S. history), and
Michael Curry (UCLA,
geography).
